In the glass, this wine shows a ruby red color with a white pepper on the nose followed by hints of clove and crème de cassis. On the palate, red berry fruit jumps out front and quickly is overcome by darker fruit with notes of black plum with black pepper spice. The mid-palate is supported by firm tannins primarily from the high elevation, mountain zinfandel in this wine that provides most of the tannins with a hint of vanilla cream puff in the finish from the barrel. This zinfandel is not a jammy, pruning zinfandel, but rather a classic zinfandel with great spice, structure and subtle fruit.

Notes of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries mingle with traces of spice and vanilla on the nose. A sip reveals flavors of strawberry, plum, and bramble fruit that open up into suggestions of pepper and sweet spice. A bright Zinfandel with smooth tannins, it’s easy going enough to sip on its own or it could pair nicely with a turkey burger. 500 cases were made.
